The Conference

The regional conference, titled “Building an Asian Peoples’ Agenda on Aid: Conference on Official Development Assistance (ODA) “  will be a three-day activity to be held from July 25 to 27, 2007. It will be in the Philippines, a recipient country that relies on ODA for the achievement of the MDGs.  Target participants will be coming from ODA recipient countries in Asia, namely Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, , India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, as well as donor countries -- Japan, China and South Korea.

Civil society organizations engaged in ODA advocacy from neighboring countries like India, Thailand and Malaysia and from donor countries will be invited to participate in the conference.  Also, international networks will be invited to participate. Japan Citizens Monitoring ODA is active in ODA monitoring, while GCAP in Europe is working with Concorde, a broad coalition on aid advocacy. Resource persons from civil society networks in aid giving countries will be invited to present.
