Zambia's Health System

by deepshika — last modified 2007-06-25 13:27

It may take a while for decisions made at this year's G8 summit - of seven of the world's leading industrialised countries and Russia – to be put into practice. Money pledged two years ago to cancel the debts of Zambia is already making a difference to people's health.

Treatment at rural health centres is now free, and the number of patients has shot up. The only trouble is that the clinics are so busy that staff are finding it hard to cope and there aren't enough drugs to go round.

Henry Malumo from the Civil Society Campaign Against Poverty explains about the changes he's seen.
